Anti-spam system
This website uses an anti-spam system, named Akismet, in its different forms (comments, contact, subscription to notifications by email). Your name and/or your email address are submitted to the service in order to be verified. To know more about it, you can read the Akismet privacy policy.
Comments
When you leave a comment on my website, the data entered in the comment form, but also your IP address and your browser’s user agent are collected to help me detect unwanted comments.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service’s confidentiality clauses are available on the Automattic website. After validation of your comment, your profile picture will be publicly visible next to your comment.
Contact form
You can contact me via a contact form because I do not want to divulge my e-mail address publicly.
The only personal information requested is the information I need to answer you and to know who I’m talking to: your name and your e-mail address.
The messages sent are:
- sent directly to my personal email address hosted at ProtonMail if they are perceived as legitimate by the anti-spam system.
- saved in a database in case a message is wrongly detected as spam or in case the system for sending or receiving e-mails is defective. They are deleted as quickly as possible and at most within 3 months.
All messages you send me are private and their data will not be used for commercial purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site, you will be offered to save your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. This is only for your comfort so that you don’t have to enter this information if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.
Embedded content from other sites
In a concern of not transmitting information to other websites through my own website, I make an effort not to propose embedded content from other sites but rather links directly to these other sites.
Audience statistics and measurements
This site uses the Matomo self-hosted solution to measure the audience of this website.
The statistics are collected by respecting the rules set forth by the CNIL (a French organization working on privacy subjetcs):
- anonymization of the IP addresses (only the first two bytes of the IP addresses are kept);
- implementation of the unsubscription solution (hereafter);
- application of a maximum lifetime of 13 months for tracking cookies;
- support for the “Do Not Track” preference. This means that you will not be tracked if your browser transmits that you do not want to be tracked. This is a setting in your browser and you will not be able to participate until you disable the “Do Not Track” feature.
I am the only one who has access to this information which will never be transmitted to any third party.

Security Logs
Visitors’ IP addresses, the IDs of logged-in users and the identifiers of log-in attempts are conditionally recorded to check for malicious activity and to protect the site against specific types of attacks. Examples of conditions when logging in include: login attempts, logout requests, requests for suspicious URLs, changes to site content and password updates. This information is retained for 30 days.
Use and transmission of your personal data
This site is scanned for malware and vulnerabilities by iThemes’ Site Scanning. We do not collect any personal data during the analysis, however public personal information (such as comments) will be processed.
How long your data is stored
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This makes it possible to automatically recognize and approve subsequent comments instead of leaving them in the moderation queue.
Security logs are kept for 30 days.
The rights you have on your data
If you have an account or if you have left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all the personal data we have about you, including those you have provided. You may also request the deletion of your personal data. This does not include data stored for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Transmission of your personal data
Comments can be checked using an automated service to detect spam comments.
This site is part of a network of sites that protect against brute force attacks. To activate this protection, the IP address of visitors trying to connect to the site administration is shared with a service provided by ithemes.com.
